Route 41
3 wild Pokémon across 1 encounter method. 10 trainer battles.
Route 41 Guide
Route 41 is the full open-water run around the Whirl Islands, turning the west coast into a maze of swimmers, currents, and legendary side paths.
Travel the route
Use this route as the real sea test between Route 40 and Cianwood City. It is longer, looser, and much more navigation-heavy than the land routes behind it.
What matters here
The big draw is the Whirl Island NW chain and everything that branches out from the islands. Even if you only want Cianwood, Route 41 teaches you to read the sea instead of just crossing it.
Come back later
Come back when you want Lugia-side exploration, late-water catches, or another sweep of Johto's most open coastal route.

Map Movement Tips
These clues come from the map tiles, so they are handy when you are planning which moves or paths matter here.
Surf opens water paths here
Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.
Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.
Whirlpool can clear a blocker here
A whirlpool can block water travel until you can clear it.
Bring Whirlpool after earning Glacier Badge.
Repel Planning
If your lead Pokémon is above a wild level, Repel skips it. These checkpoints show what disappears completely.
