Route 42 Guide
Route 42 is the eastbound mountain road out of Ecruteak, with river crossings, cave mouths, and the approach to Mahogany.
Travel the route
This route links Ecruteak City and Mahogany Town through a layered mountain stretch. It starts as a simple east road, then keeps opening as field moves pile up.
What matters here
The important landmarks are Mount Mortar 1F Outside and the water barriers that change how much of the route you can really sweep. It is one of Johto's best examples of a road that grows with your move set.
Come back later
Return when Surf or other movement tools unlock more side paths, or when you want the clean mountain line between Ecruteak and Mahogany.

Nearby jumps
From here, a beast usually moves toward Route 43, Route 44, Route 37, Route 38.

Land only
The beasts stay out of Surf encounters, so they do not pop up while you are surfing.
Hunt in grass or on land instead of riding across water.
