Route 4 Guide

Route 4 is the eastern Mount Moon exit road, bridging the cave run into Cerulean-side travel.

Travel the route

Use Route 4 as the handoff between Mount Moon and Cerulean City. It is shorter than Route 3, but it matters because it tells you the mountain section is over and the open northeast is next.

What matters here

Its main value is direction. Once you hit this route, Cerulean, the cape roads, and the eastern Kanto quests all sit ahead instead of behind another cave.

Come back later

Return when you want the simplest way to reconnect Mount Moon and Cerulean or need the short eastern exit instead of the full westbound climb.

Map Movement Tips

These clues come from the map tiles, so they are handy when you are planning which moves or paths matter here.

Surf opens water paths here

Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.

Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.

One-way ledges shape the route

These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.

Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.

Repel Planning

If your lead Pokémon is above a wild level, Repel skips it. These checkpoints show what disappears completely.
