Cerulean City Guide

Cerulean City is the northeastern Kanto hub, tying Misty, Nugget Bridge, the Power Plant problem, and the cape road to Bill together.

Get your bearings

Cerulean is one of the busiest Kanto cities even after Johto opens. The Gym, the northern bridge, the eastern road to Power Plant, and the cape trip all pull in different directions from the same center.

Main jobs here

Your main jobs are the Gym, the Machine Part quest that touches the Power Plant, and the push up Route 24 and Route 25. Because it also feeds Saffron through Route 5, it makes a strong repeat base.

Good revisits

Return when Kanto's quest chain moves through the stolen machine part, when you want Bill's cape route, or when you need a central eastern Kanto checkpoint.

Map Movement Tips

These clues come from the map tiles, so they are handy when you are planning which moves or paths matter here.

Surf opens water paths here

Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.

Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.

One-way ledges shape the route

These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.

Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.

Repel Planning

If your lead Pokémon is above a wild level, Repel skips it. These checkpoints show what disappears completely.
