Route 27
12 wild Pokémon across 3 encounter methods. 10 trainer battles.
Route 27 Guide
Route 27 is the bridge route where Johto spills into Kanto, with the long east river, the route to Tohjo Falls, and one of the clearest region-border feelings in the game.
Travel the route
Travel Route 27 when the map finally stretches beyond Johto. The route sits between New Bark Town's eastern sea and Tohjo Falls, so it feels more like a threshold than a normal road.
What matters here
Its real value is thematic and practical at once: this is the road that tells you Kanto is real now. It also gives you one of the last calm outdoor runs before the League approach sharpens.
Come back later
Return when you want the region-border route, the link back to Tohjo Falls, or another sweep of the eastern water-and-bridge line.

Map Movement Tips
These clues come from the map tiles, so they are handy when you are planning which moves or paths matter here.
Surf opens water paths here
Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.
Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.
Whirlpool can clear a blocker here
A whirlpool can block water travel until you can clear it.
Bring Whirlpool after earning Glacier Badge.
One-way ledges shape the route
These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.
Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.
