Route 43
14 wild Pokémon across 4 encounter methods. 12 trainer battles.
Route 43 Guide
Route 43 is the uphill road to Lake of Rage, remembered for the gate toll and the lead-in to the red Gyarados story.
Travel the route
Travel Route 43 when the northern Johto plot starts pulling you toward Lake Of Rage. The route itself is straightforward, but the gate drama gives it more personality than a normal connector road.
What matters here
Its real job is setting up the lake event and the Lance handoff that cracks open Mahogany's secrets. If you think of the route as the ramp into the lake chapter, its place in the map becomes very clear.
Come back later
Come back when you want another lake run, northern Johto training, or the direct line between Mahogany and the Red Gyarados event zone.
