Pewter City is the rocky northern Kanto stop that anchors Brock, the road to Mount Moon, and the western half of Kanto's early routes.
Get your bearings
Pewter is easy to read: Gym, Pokecenter, Mart, and the road east into Route 3. Even in postgame form it still feels like the clean staging point before the first mountain stretch.
Main jobs here
Most visits revolve around Brock's Gym and the transition into Mount Moon through Route 3. It also stays useful as the northbound counterpart to Viridian if you are sweeping western Kanto in one loop.
Good revisits
Come back for the Gym, the Mount Moon corridor, or a sturdy checkpoint before moving east toward Cerulean.
