Cinnabar Island Guide

Cinnabar Island is a stripped-down postgame stop, with the ruined island, the Seafoam Gym move, and the surf roads that now do most of the work.

Get your bearings

Cinnabar is unusual because the story leaves it half-empty and pushes the real badge stop into Seafoam. That makes the island more of a waypoint than a full city, but it still matters because the south-coast travel lines run through it.

Main jobs here

Use Cinnabar as the midpoint between Route 20 and Route 21, then branch out to the Seafoam Gym and the western surf corridor. It is also the quietest way to reset before long southern water travel.

Good revisits

Return when you are finishing Blaine's side of Kanto, surfing the south coast, or linking Pallet and Fuchsia by sea.

Map Movement Tips

These clues come from the map tiles, so they are handy when you are planning which moves or paths matter here.

Surf opens water paths here

Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.

Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.

One-way ledges shape the route

These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.

Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.

Repel Planning

If your lead Pokémon is above a wild level, Repel skips it. These checkpoints show what disappears completely.
