Ruins Of Alph Outside Guide

Ruins of Alph Outside is the puzzle field between the routes, where the research angle and the mystery angle start at the same time.

Getting in

Use the outside map as the hub that ties the chambers, gates, and research center together. It sits close enough to Route 32 and Route 36 that it is easy to fold into normal travel.

Main reason to visit

The main reason to stop is to begin the ruin-puzzle chain and decide whether you want to chase Unown content now or later. The area feels optional, but it rewards curiosity immediately.

Why return

Return when new movement options open more chamber access or when you decide it is finally time to clear the puzzle side of Johto.

Map Movement Tips

These clues come from the map tiles, so they are handy when you are planning which moves or paths matter here.

Surf opens water paths here

Water tiles can become paths once you can Surf.

Bring a Surf user after earning Fog Badge if you want every shoreline path.

One-way ledges shape the route

These ledges let you jump down but not climb back up from the same spot.

Look before you hop if you are collecting items or avoiding trainers.

Repel Planning

If your lead Pokémon is above a wild level, Repel skips it. These checkpoints show what disappears completely.
